HIS dreams of recapturing his TV ice crown may have been blown to pieces, but Blackpool skating star Dan Whiston was today full of praise for his "dynamite" partner.
Dan and "Foxy Roxy" Roxanne Pallett were voted out of the hit ITV1 show Dancing On Ice on Sunday.
Describing his partner as his "little stick of dynamite", Dan was full of praise for the former Emmerdale actress.
He said: "To take something positive from it, we went out on a high. Roxy did really well. She really enjoyed our last performance and it was her personal best.
"Looking back over the series we've had a really good time. Roxy's story has been what it's all about. She started off at the bottom of the pack, she had never skated before, never danced before and every week she has improved.
"It's been so nice to see her getting better to better. We did well, we got to week eight."
Dan – who won the very first series of the show back in 2006 – performed a sultry and sexy routine with Roxanne to the girl thingycat Dolls' Don'tcha.
With it they scored their highest mark in the competition, but were voted off after a tense skate-off with ex-Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon.
Even acid-tongued judge Jason Gardiner praised Roxanne, saying; "It was a very, very close skate-off. Perhaps the closest we've ever had."
After the judge's voted her off Roxanne was full of praise for her partner. She said: "I couldn't have done any of this without Dan and I wouldn't have wanted to do any this with anyone else."
She added: "It's been such a treat, an amazing experience. I cannot believe I've got this far."
Dan, a former pupil of Baines School and star of Blackpool Pleasure Beach's Hot Ice show, is now looking forward to heading home to Poulton for a few days.
He will be back in London next week to start rehearsals for the Dancing on Ice live tour, which kicks off at the start of April.
Viewers will also be able to see him on their screens once again when he takes part in the grand series finale in three weeks' time.
He said: "I'm looking forward to coming home for a bit, there's no place like home. Whenever I see Blackpool Tower, I feel happy to be back.
"We're looking forward to starting rehearsals for the live tour, which myself and Roxy will be taking part in. She's not hanging up her skates just yet."
Blackpool singing sensation Coleen Nolan and Poulton partner Stuart Widdall, are still in the competition after they were saved by the public vote.
